Organizations across the globe are awakening to the reality that green business practices can provide a competitive advantage while producing world benefits. We use the word “green” because it has the connotation of the environment. Going green can benefit society and the environment while adding value to the organization.
There are numerous methods for adding value while contributing to society and the environment. They are not limited to energy efficiency, renewable and cheaper energy, innovations based on the green principles, increased brand image, increased employee engagement through aligning organizational and employee values, and improved company reputation.
Developing a green organization requires that there is a change in the core practices so that they benefit society and the environment while adding value to the organization. The benefit is nature preservation and societal good while adding to the reputation, stock prices, and long-term viability of the organization. In order to sustain an organizational change it will require integrating theses practices into the strategic agenda and the organization will need to adjust how they do business.
